Getting Started
SCP provides a point of difference to other existing paddling clubs. There is more focus on open-water paddling in a range of conditions. Depending on individual preferences and aspirations, this may include ‘downwinder’ paddling in moderate to strong winds, learning the skills associated with paddling in rough water, surf skills, ocean racing, and preparing members for expedition kayaking.
As an SCP member, you can attend SCP trips, training, and our annual weekend symposium at Currarong. You will benefit from having access to regular high-level instruction and practice in kayak/sea skills, and how to manage open water exposure in moderate and challenging conditions.
If you aspire to engage in multi-day expedition kayaking, SCP events provide the ideal environment, with the most relevant instruction you can obtain anywhere in Australia.
Most importantly, you will be welcome to join us on our famed weekly Tuesday night paddles and Saturday Morning paddles. (once you have and can demonstrate the required skills)

How to Join:
Step 1:
Head to the Paddle Australia portal, https://paddleaustralia.justgo.com/Account.mvc/LogIn. Paddle Australia is the starting point. By joining SCP you are automatically joining Paddle Australia / Paddle NSW and receiving the benefit of this association’s insurance when out on the water.
Step 2:
Click the “NEW MEMBER” sign up button and fill out the details to make your profile page.
Step 3:
On the right side of your profile page, you will see a list of clubs. Search through this to find “Sea Cliff Paddlers” (SCP). The club is listed as being in Moruya with a PO Box there, this is for administration only. We are based in Sydney, most usually paddling from Malabar, Watsons Bay or Bonnie Vale.
Step 4:
Membership to SCP is not automatic. You can lodge your request for Membership by first completing the Expression of Interest (EOI). This should include details of your paddling history, skills, etc. The SCP Membership Committee will assess your EOI within 14 days of receipt and will advise you by email if your application is successful.
