Weekly Paddles

SCP paddlers meet twice weekly on Tuesday in the late afternoon and Saturday morning.

Tuesday Afternoon Paddles

Rob Mercer runs the weekly Tuesday paddles. Participants need to be ready to launch at 4.00pm. Launch spots are selected for their easy access to the open coast in east and southern Sydney.

The aim is to maximise exposure to active sea states in a range of weather and sea conditions.

This is not an entry level paddle as we return in darkness during winter and with the stronger afternoon sea breezes in summer. Although this is not a race, we also aim to maintain a steady pace that may require moderate paddle fitness. You will also need to be relaxed with the possibility of capsize and willing to cooperate with others to enhance group safety.

Depending on the group interests we also spend some time each week on rescues, self- rescues and wave riding skills.

Contact Rob Mercer for further details or to register your interest.

Saturday Morning Paddles

Sharon Betteridge runs a regular Saturday morning paddle which is on open or enclosed water depending on the conditions on the day. Saturday paddles focus on fun, fitness and skill-building in a non-threatening and inclusive environment.

These trips have also been used as a stepping stone to Rob’s Tuesday night paddle.

They launch from a variety of locations in Sydney’s eastern and southern suburbs and sometimes further afield.
